In 1997, Chef Gabriele Paganelli started Romagna Mia with the idea of introducing Toronto to the cuisine of Emila Romagna.  Gabriele's vision was to share the tastes and flavours of his childhood.   In no time, the traditional fresh pasta, homemade piadina, and the award winning risotto thrust Romagna Mia into Toronto's culinary spotlight.

Over the years there have been many awards and accolades bestowed upon Gabriele and Romagna Mia. Nevertheless, the achievement Gabriele and the Romagna Mia family are most proud of is  giving Toronto its only truly traditional northern Italian dining experience.

Emilia Romagna is located in north central Italy. Bordering on the Adriatic Sea in the east, this northern province is widely considered the gastronomic capital of Italy. The region is divided into eight provinces named for their capitals - Bologna, Ferrera, Modena, Parma, Piacenza and Reggio nell'Emilia provinces are in Emilia; Forli and Ravenna are provinces in Romagna.  From these areas, the gastronomic delights of Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, Prosciutto di Parma and balsamic vinegar are produced using centuries old techniques and recipes.

Our logo, "La Sangiovesa" is a mythical character from Romagna. A maternal goddess who offers wine instead of milk. She is named after the predominant red wine grape grown in Romagna and Tuscany - "Sangiovese."
